You will fall in love with this small hotel, which became the meeting point of the hippest Swiss! Located in the old city of Bergamo, Relais San Lorenzo is a paradise ruin. Built on the top of amazing relics (the foundation stones date back to the first century), the hotel has that historic air that holds the attention of archaeologists and scholars.
However, wrong are those who think that the hotel lives only in the past. Relais architecture is an interesting dialogue between ancient and modern, thanks to the work of the honorable Adolfo Natalini. Although preserving their primordial features, elegance and luxury are evident in the trendy furniture, in the sophisticated palette of colors that compounds the décor, in the unique sense of well-being caused by each of the SPA treatments, in the flavors of the Local cuisine and in the comfortable bed that waits for you in the room.
Relais San Lorenzo is small, what makes it feels even more intimate. It has only 30 rooms and suites modernly decorated in cream and chocolate tones. The rooms are air-conditioned, have sumptuous bathrooms and a range of high-tech equipments such as the showers and a chromotherapy.
Carefully selected, the room furnishings include armchairs, leather chairs and sofas, Frau Armchairs, Molteni & C coffee tables, Flos lamps and Rivolta Carmignani beddings.
Our favorite room is:
Located at the first floor, the San Lorenzo suite is 55 m² and is the biggest in the hotel. Its bathroom offers a vertical hydro, chromotherapy and a Jacuzzi. This suite has a private terrace of 30 m², featuring armchairs and chairs.
All the modern Relais San Lorenzo bathrooms offer Flora amenities for their guests.
The Hostaria restaurant has already received several awards and is located in between the ancient Roman and medieval walls. It provides great views of the Bergamo Alps to the guests while they enjoy the delicious chef Antonio Cuomo regional cuisine. It is the perfect scenery for a romantic dinner or for an elegant party - especially at the terrace! Be sure to try the casoncelli con burro nocciola, the salvia e pancetta croccante ("casoncelli" is a homemade ravioli prepared with melted butter, salvia and crispy bacon). Simply irresistible!
The Lounge Bar is next to the restaurant and even though it maintains the same historical features of the rest of the hotel, it has a nice contemporary décor and illumination. There you can taste wines, champagnes, liqueurs and Armagnac always accompanied by hot and/or cold appetizers.
The San Lorenzo SPA welcomes you with a pleasant aroma steam and a serene atmosphere where colors, music and water blend to invited you to the ultimate relaxation. With a Finnish sauna and a different and delicate sensorial experience with rain and snow, the guests can actually forget of the external environment and focus on balancing the body and the soul. To help avoiding possible allergies, sit in the room with the salt wall.
This luxurious hotel offers to its guests a spectacular view of the old city of Bergamo and it is only a few steps from some of the most important tourist sites in town, such as the cidadela, the Donizetti Museum and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore.
